Mind Your Own Business

I can recall since childhood being told to mind my own business.  “Mind Your Own Business” was a phrase that I heard quite often.  You see, since I was a little girl, I have always been very vocal and inquisitive.  All my life I have been told that I was nosey and that I talk too much. Quite often I would be told to be quiet and to mind my own business. I must be honest here. I never mastered being quiet. However, I did learn to mind my own business and so should you!
First, I would like you to think about your current employer.  What are your duties? Why are you there? If you are like most people, I bet you do not wake up each morning with the burning desire to get to work. If you are like most people, you probably feel underpaid and over worked. If you are one of the few who do not fit in this category, I congratulate you.


Whether you Love or Hate your job, I suggest you start minding your own business. Think about it. Regardless of what business you are employed, I would like to remind you of the reason you have your job in the first place.The Reason you have your current job is because someone had a bright idea. Someone had a bright idea then decided to get into action to make their idea a successful business. Think about it! For this very reason, you have a job!

I would now like for you to ponder this question: What would happen if that same someone has another bright idea and decides they would like to pay for cheaper work? In case you are not aware, businesses are outsourcing work overseas everyday because they would rather pay for cheaper labor. Does that mean you lose your job? What would happen to you? What would happen to your family? What would happen to your happy home? These are situations that many are facing on a daily basis. If you have not experienced this personally, you are one of the lucky ones! If you are one of the lucky ones then I suggest that you begin minding your own business now!

I understand that you must do what you have to do until you can do better. However, I do not understand the act of only minding someone else’s business. Now, when I think back on my childhood and reflect on the times that I have been told that I talk too much and that I was nosey, it makes me smile.

I used to think both of these qualities were negative ones. I now understand that these qualities are some of my best assets. If I had not been nosey all of my life, I would not have taken any action. You see, that nosiness led me to seek the information which propelled me to entrepreneurship.  The fact that I love to talk is icing on the cake. What a great way to get my message to others. So, I encourage you to start minding your own business. I'm sure you have many bright ideas! ;)
